Connecting or reconnecting your edgeConX energy monitor to home Wi-Fi
Reconnection of your edgeConX energy monitor to your home Wi-Fi network may be required following a power outage or as a first step in resolving any data issues you may be experiencing in the edgeConX app.
Please note that the following instructions apply ONLY for edgeConX branded units.
Reconnection differs for non-edgeConX branded energy monitoring units.
Restarting your energy monitor
The best way to ensure that your energy monitor has been restarted correctly is to switch off your mains power for at least 10 seconds.
Your mains power switch can be found alongside the edgeConX energy monitor device in your home’s switchboard.
After restarting your mains power the light next to the word ‘Power’ should be lit, and the light next to the word ‘Signal’ should be off.
If the power light is off, please switch off your mains power, this time leaving it off for at least 1 minute prior to switching it back on.
Quick (WPS) setup
The edgeConX energy monitor can be connected to your Wi-Fi network quickly and easily if your router supports a Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) connection.
You can check to see if your Wi-Fi router supports WPS mode by reviewing the user manual or checking the physical router itself. If supported, the WPS button on your router will be labelled with the words ‘WPS’ or ‘Sync’, or with a symbol containing two arrows.
Once you’ve confirmed your router supports WPS set up, follow these steps to connect the edgeConX energy monitor using WPS mode.
Locate the WPS button on your home Wi-Fi router.
On the edgeConX energy monitor, located in your home switchboard, press and hold the reset button for about five (5) seconds or until you see the yellow LED signal indicator light is blinking slowly. This will indicate the edgeConX energy monitor is looking to establish a connection via WPS.
Return to your home Wi-Fi router and press the WPS button.
Return to your edgeConX energy monitor – the yellow signal light should now be solid yellow. This indicates a successful connection has been established.
If the yellow signal light remains blinking – you may wish to try these steps again or follow the standard process below.
Standard setup
Before getting started, please make sure you are aware of your home WI-FI access point name and your access point password.
Press and hold the reset button on the edgeConX energy monitor, located in your switchboard, for around ten (10) seconds or until the yellow LED indicator starts to blink rapidly. This indicates that unit is ready to establish a Wi-Fi connection.
Using your computer or mobile phone, locate and connect to the Wi-Fi access point named ‘edgeConXAP…’
Once connected to the ‘edgeConXAP’ Access Point, open a browser and navigate to the address 192.168.0.1 – this address will connect you directly to the edgeConX energy monitor.
In the fields available, enter the Wi-Fi access point username and password that you noted down in Step 1.
Click the ‘Connect’ button.
The yellow LED signal light should now change from blinking to solid – this indicates that your edgeConX energy monitor is now transmitting your home energy usage via your home’s Wi-Fi network.
If the unit remains in a blinking state, repeat the process from step 1.
Don’t forget to change your computer or mobile phone’s Wi-Fi connection back to your home Wi-Fi access point.
Following the successful connection of your edgeConX energy monitor to your home Wi-Fi, data should be available in the edgeConX app within the next 10-15 minutes.
